F-I-V-E

Kaitlyn is now FIVE. The BIG 5! A whole hand! Everything about this girl is awesome! A few days before her birthday she got a new "big girl" hair cut, AND opened her presents from Grandma and Grandpa Van. So fun!

 Then the day before her birthday, we got SNOW! She had to go outside and build a snowman! She's getting pretty good at it too! She also got to Skype with Auntie, and open her present. A TUTU!

On her birthday, Mommy made special pink birthday pancakes! Then it was off to school!

After school, we had a special birthday lunch out with Daddy! Since Kaitlyn requested (frozen) pizza, I thought it would be fun to meet up with Daddy at one of our favorite places, Taco Bueno.

After dinner, we completed birthday fun with a "Hello Kitty" cake. Kaitlyn wanted to wear her birthday hat she got from school. Perfect for a birthday girl!

 
My Aunt Barbara got her a math workbook while she was in Japan. Even though all the instructions are in another language, the numbers are all the same. As my aunt wrote "math=math". This parked something in Kaitlyn.... before she got this book she liked doing "her math" by writing down "1+1=2, etc" on a plain piece of paper. I showed this book to her and she hasn't looked back!

Kaitlyn told me the other day that when she grows up she wants to be a math teacher just like Daddy. So far, she's off to a good start. She can add small numbers (4+2, 5+5, etc) but she can also add some big numbers (100+100, 20+20) too. Thanks for the gift of "math" Aunt B!

We had her 5-year well check up last week, and she's growing great! Healthy little girl! She even shared some of her math with the Dr.

Some days it seems that time is standing still... but most days I think... Gosh... wasn't she just a baby yesterday? Happy 5th Birthday sweet girl!
