15 months and sick

Jacob is now 15 months old, but he sure thinks he can do anything a 3 year old can do! He is running all over the place, "talking" all the time in his own little language, he likes to help, and LOVES to play outside!

Jacob can say, "Mama," "Dada," "ball," "baby," "yeah," "more" and "all done" (in baby sign language), "milk" (it's really "mi" but we know what he means), and he says "thank you" in his baby gab whenever you give him something. You can tell he is trying to say more words with how he talks.

I have the sweetest little boy! He listens to simple instructions really well. A few weeks ago, I gave Jacob juice and I knew big sister would ask to have some too. I got a cup of juice for Kaitlyn and asked Jacob, "Take this to sister, please" and he took it straight to her (without drinking any of it)! He really loves his big sister. So precious!

Jacob gets excited when he knows we are going to be outside. If I don't catch him when we go on our evening walks, he will walk to our neighborhood park. He LOVES the slide. He goes up the steps, and down the slide all by himself! What a big boy!

Wednesday, we went to the doctor for his well check up. Papaw came too, just before he needed to be at the airport to fly back home.

Everything looked good until the doctor looked in his ears.... he has an ear infection! NOoooooo! But this does explain how he was acting on Monday.

And actually.... Tuesday, Kaitlyn got a tummy bug and couldn't keep anything down. So she tagged along on Jacob's doctor appointment. I told the doctor when she started getting sick, and mentioned that one of her preschool classmates was home sick with the same symptoms. He said that there is a bug going around.... oh boy.... the joys of school.

Today, Kaitlyn is back to her normal self, but Jacob now has the bug (but not as bad). Poor guy!

Job well done!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we went miniature golfing to play instead of work. What were we working on??? We actually added more storage to the attic and added more storage in our garage. When I say "we" it was really Papaw and Daddy doing all the hard work. I just put things away :) Here's to a job WELL DONE, boys! Get excited, here come pictures of my attic and garage!

Hooray for more space to put our stuff! I don't know how the previous owners, a family of 6, didn't do this when they moved in... then again... they didn't have boxes full of baby stuff and clothes!

In the garage, we added a second shelving unit and put of peg board for the most used tools. LOVE the peg board. We also got tubs (on the top shelf) for all the seasonal things. We talked about making doors for the bottom two shelves. I want to keep our curious kids out of things that are dangerous to them (i.e. paint supplies, electrical saw, motor oil, etc.). Doors just sounded like a lot of work. I had a lonely crate on the bottom shelf with a few things in it and realized... kids can't get the stuff in there. So we got 5 more crates and bungee cords to hold the crates in. Works GREAT! And.... we still have lots of room on the selves for new stuff!

Happy MNF!!!!

Ok.... for those who don't know, and are just now following... We are CRAZY about football in our house, particularly the Detroit Lions. In case you haven't heard... they are FIVE AND OH! Undefeated!!!! This is the same team that went 0-16 (didn't win any games) in the 2008 season.

Anyway... now that you are up-to-speed.... Monday Night Football that the LIONS happen to be playing is also Mommy's birthday! Most husbands would be bummed about this situation... "Man... I've got to miss the only Monday night game my team has had since 2001 because of my wife's birthday dinner... "  Not this wife! I am just as excited to see the game as he was! Living in Oklahoma, you don't get a nationally televised Lions game very often. If we were closer, we would have been there!

Mike was so sweet to me too. He got me a birthday flower, baked my caked, and picked out a gift that I love. EVERY time he gets me flowers they last at least a week, and blossom! So pretty!

I did have one little bummer about my birthday... Jacob didn't feel well. I couldn't tell what was really wrong. He just acted really tired, and wanted to be held. After fighting sleep for 4 hours, Jacob zonked out at 7pm (missing the whole game), poor baby.

We had pizza and "front row" seats. I also dug out a Barry Sanders jersey for team spirit! :) At the half we sang happy birthday, ate cake and opened cards/presents.

After that, I hired a 3-year-old photographer to document the rest of the night. She actually did a great job taking pictures :) Here's a few pictures (that weren't too blurry, or of the ceiling)

I LOVE that Kaitlyn got a picture of Daddy doing his "head tapping". That means there was a good play!

 This next picture makes me laugh. I actually have 6 or 7 more just like it! Kaitlyn was taking pictures of herself saying, "Cheeeeeeeeeeeese!" Every one of them, her eyes are shut. I guess the flash is a little bright when it's only 8 inches from your face.

All in all, it was a good birthday. My birthday wish came true, our team WON on Monday Night Football. Here's to many more birthdays, AND MNF games! :) 5-0!!!

Miniature golf

On Saturday, I really wanted us to be able to take a break from home projects, and play! There is a fun place in south OKC that has miniature golf- perfect for Kaitlyn (and Papaw, the golf lover). Here we are at Celebration Station!

Well... if you can believe it... Daddy won (must have been that hole-in-one). I actually heard Kaitlyn say, "Papaw lost his game" hehehehe She is a little parrot and repeats EVERYTHING we say... so Papaw must have said it first. Too cute!

Inside, there's a BUNCH of arcade games and a GIANT slide! Kaitlyn wanted to go up it, but she needed a little help getting to the top. Mommy and Kaitlyn went down together :)

It was so much fun!! There is also go-carts, bumper boats, batting cages.... I think we will be back again!

put 'em to work

We decided to paint another room in our house (I know what you're thinking.... haven't you painted every room by now???) Almost! We painted the hallway that leads to the master suite.

The day before Papaw got here, while Kaitlyn was at school and Jacob was napping, I prepped the hallway. I taped the trim and primed the walls so all that needed to be done when Papaw arrived was actually painting. Well... I ran out of primer, so we had to prime a little when he got here (not too shabby).

Take Papaw to the zoo

Our kids LOVE the zoo, and we have had fabulous weather to go! We got to feed the giraffes, see the elephant show with the baby elephant, and see the lions, tigers, and bears (OH MY!)

 The lions were out and HUNGRY!!! Right when we got there, they were eating lunch. There was a little girl that walked up to the glass, and the lioness pounced right at her! Then she did it again to another little girl a few minutes later. Poor girls... scared them to death! Then the lioness pounced at Jacob. He didn't even flinch! He and the lioness had a stare-down.

My camera battery died right after I took this picture. We had so much fun! Kaitlyn fell asleep on the car ride home. That's when you know she had a good time :)
