Gold Nugget

Last week, Kaitlyn's gymnastics coach approached me and said that she would like Kaitlyn to be evaluated for the Gold Nuggets. It's a class that is invitation only. So after we went home, I did the research to see what this team was all about.

(this video is from last week's class, it's very short)
The Gold Nugget program is an accelerated gymnastics program for more advanced girls.  It is a pre-team oriented program designed to teach more advanced "team level" skills.  Girls in the Gold Nugget program will hopefully achieve the opportunity to advance into the competitive level programs.

After Kaitlyn's class on Tuesday, her coach told me, "I want to move her this week to the Gold Nuggets. I feel that keeping her here would be holding her back." WOW! Kaitlyn was so excited to hear that she's now on the special team, the Gold Nuggets.

She has a new coach, Autumn. The best part, there is an assistant coach so they get all the assistance they need in learning correct technique. There are 8 girls on her team with the average age being about 9. It looks like there is one other girl Kaitlyn's age, and then 2 that may be 7 or 8, and 4 that are 10 or 11.

We aren't raising an Olympian, this is a sport that Kaitlyn enjoys. There is no obligation to join the competitive league, but her coach does think she's got what it takes to be on the CL team. One step at a time :) It's pretty special to see her excel in activities. So proud of her!
